Concerts for Kids
We've got kid-tested, kid-approved programs to inspire and entertain.
Invite all your friends and neighbors for an afternoon so fun they won't
even know they're learning. Helpful hints on successful hosting included below.
Introduce your kids
to music from different
parts of the world
Let their ears travel to the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. We can even bring ethnic instruments: our flutist will entrance you with improvisations on her Arabic "ney" flute or a Berber shepherd's flute. Our hornist's 12-foot Swiss alphorn will make you yearn for fresh mountain air (or a Ricola drop).
Introduce Your Family
to
Our Family of Instruments
Our flutist will demonstrate the joys of piccolo, alto flute, and recorder. Our talented clarinetist has a trio of clarinets to play, from the little E flat to the big bass clarinet. Our bassoonist can show you neat tricks for playing remarkably low notes. Let our hornist play her natural (hunting) horn for you and show why adding all those valves was such a good idea.
Travel Through the
Centuries
in One Afternoon
Let your kids know that Grieg wrote something other than "Morning Song". Visit different centuries with music from early through modern times. Enjoy Renaissance dances, Beethoven scherzos, lovely short pieces by Tchaikovsky, and hear modern pieces that you'll actually like and can go home humming.
Be the first in your neighborhood to host one of our concerts. It's easy - all we need are 5 armless chairs and about 5x7 square feet of space. A bit of light is good too. Past host families have offered refreshments for more of a party atmosphere (most pleasant childhood experiences involve brownies and cookies). We’ve also seen hosts put out a discreet "donation jar" to help defray costs.
